Hello, I\u2019m Nick – one of the student counsellors at Zion Student Fellowship. This is my 2nd consecutive year attending the Atlantic Mission Conference, and one of the best serving experiences I have had in recent years.<\/p>\n

I approached this year\u2019s mission trip with a totally different mindset. I not only wanted to redeem myself from last year, but I also wanted to reignite my passion for serving the Lord. I felt that I had spent a lot of my energy and time establishing a new career in the past few years and was in a lukewarm state when it came to ministry. I wanted a change.<\/p>\n

Entrusted by Pastor Jacky, I had the privilege to lead the youth ministry team, which consisted of many students\/mentors from student fellowship, a youth from SCAC, and a family from our church. While I had to lead the team, I tend to have a more laid-back leadership style. Looking back, I would not have been able to experience such an amazing team if God did not invite the ones who joined. I can confidently say that every student who led sessions on the mission trip went beyond expectations. Each one of them was an accountable and responsible teammate from planning to execution. They were actively engaged with the teenagers at the conference and were flexible when it came to unforeseen changes. I thank God for this opportunity to serve with my students in such a different environment and capacity and build great bonding with them. On top of having such an amazing team, God blessed us with such wonderful weather, which was completely the opposite of last year. Lastly, the teenagers in the Atlantic region were sweet and seemed to enjoy spending time with us. I pray that God could somehow let our team be an inspiration to those local teenagers on what it means to be a Christian and serve in God\u2019s kingdom.<\/p>\n

While I do not expect every serving opportunity to have the same outcome as the one I had just experienced, I am humbled to know that God knows exactly what I need to inspire a change in me. I was reminded that being involved in ministry is not a one-man band. At times, ministry can be overwhelming and stressful, but serving with a group of faithful and like-minded servants brings joy and humility.<\/p>\n
