This is my first time going on a mission trip with my brothers and sisters. I registered right away the moment when it was announced. I have been serving in my church and fellowship, and I really want to take this opportunity to explore and use my limited ability to serve. So, with a curious heart, I go on this mission trip full of unknowns.

The first day after the delayed flight, we got back to the hotel very late; we rested right away. But because of the lack of rest, my brother Connor and I got sick; he was much worse than me. We were exhausted mentally and physically the first day we went to the campus. As the ministry started, I, at first, had no idea that my position was to serve in the youth ministry. As I had only been in the worship team meeting, there were many unknowns and unexpected. It became more mentally draining. As we finished the first day of serving, I started to feel that it was necessary to have alone time with God. So, I prayed to God to give me strength and energy to serve and improve my health. I soon realized maybe it was a reminder from God that I have to fully rest my body and fully prepare myself in order to serve. At the same time, a verse hit my mind: -Psalm 23: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” God will prepare us for everything we need.

In the following days, my body started to recover, and I slowly found my position to serve. I realized we all have different abilities that God gave us, so we have to serve in different positions to complete His work. And with a deeper reflection, the focus shouldn’t be my work. Instead, it should be God. God will also work in His own way.

Overall, it really was an unforgettable experience. I experienced so many ups and downs in this short period of time. I really enjoyed the time serving and look forward to serving more and more in the following years.
